"Welcome to Honolulu Personal Training. Helping others with fitness-related needs has been a part of my life ever since I was a teenager. While I have officially been involved in the fitness industry for twelve years, motivating and helping others through acquired and personal experience has been my passion long before that.
In my younger years, most of my peers spent their time participating in organized sports and athletic extracurricular activities while my interests developed in the 'how' of these activities. After immersing myself into exercise science and training at a local gym in Portland, OR where I grew up, it was clear that training/coaching developed into a true calling of mine. A deep level of commitment coupled with uniquely individualized workout programs for each and every one of my clients is a standard that I continue to personally uphold. "Aloha, and welcome to Honolulu Personal Training! In the last eight years of my direct involvement in "the art and study of human movement" my passion only continues to grow. Fitness and movement foundations are an avenue based in the heart of our human beings. By weaving these natural disciplines with more intention into our lives we are able to expound on the natural strength, endurance, stability, mobility, health, and a countless other benefits that define our beautiful bodies.
Growing up in small town Idaho, sports and outdoor activities are the first 'playgrounds' I grew to love. Early gravitation towards competitive gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and hiking has allowed me to build a strong movement foundation that has led me to where I am today. I have continued to explore numerous other modalities of movement and mindfulness practices such as yoga, meditation, plant-based foods, and slack-lining, and remain fascinated by the aspects of health and movement that speak to each person. No two stories of any people we meet are the same.
After enduring two torn anterior cruciate ligaments and torn menisci in my right and left knee during high school and college basketball in 2005 and 2008, I grew a healthy understanding for injury prevention and the role that it must play in our everyday lives. I found that by keeping safe, moving well, and moving often we can begin to experience even more of the vital elements that life has to offer. Whether you enjoy weightlifting, hiking, yoga asana, swimming, surfing or all of the above, each movement playground has a way of helping us fill the gap in our sustainability as human beings. Movement = Life!
